We recently completed Magna Park Unit 2, a warehouse and office space in Corby. Our works ran from May to October 2023. Kingston have been working alongside Volker Fitzpatrick to fulfil the contracted work.
Kingston have worked closely with their client through careful planning and collaboration to deliver a successful project. We provided a complete drylining package, which covered the transport hubs, which covered 1360m² and main office accommodation of 2,805m2. On-site works involved partitions, column and beam encasements, lay in grid ceilings, MF ceilings, skim finish and soffit insulation.
One of the challenges faced during installation was fitting a 6-meter stud around mechanical and electrical components to support the shaft wall ceiling and suspended ceiling below. Another issue was fire protection. The Beam and column encasements were added to the package due to the omission of intumescent paint. Kingston worked with British Gypsum who provided project specific details, ensuring fire ratings were achieved. The solution was a triple layer of 15mm FireLine board fixed to the beams using a Gypliner encase system for the beams, whilst the Columns were mainly designed to use the Firecase frameless system. These difficulties resulted in having 30 operatives working on-site to ensure everything was on programme.
As part of our contracted works, we had to install the Promat Vermiculux board, a material we have not used before. This board was installed on all PFC channels around the window openings to ensure the correct level of fire protection was achieved. We liaised with Etex to ensure we followed the right guidelines and what we were installing was safe and fit for purpose.
Lastly, we are thrilled with the outcome of Magna Park, we worked collaboratively with Volker Fitzpatrick throughout to deliver a successful scheme. We look forward to working with them again in the future.
