We have recently completed Pioneer Park Leicester, a net-zero carbon build featuring 9 industrial units with mezzanine floors in Dock 5 and 4100 square meters of space, covering 45 smaller offices and meeting rooms in Dock 3 and 4. Our work spanned from November 2023 to June 2024. Kingston collaborated with Wilten Construction to fulfil the contracted works.

Kingston worked closely with the client through careful planning and collaboration to deliver a successful project. We provided a comprehensive drylining package, covering 4100 square meters of office space and 600 square meters industrial units. On-site, our work involved full Siniat Spec partitioning in all Docks, covering approximately 3200 linear metres of walls alone. Our scope of works also included MF ceilings, and beam encasements. Kingston applied Corofil filler in the upper sections of the walls to achieve the required acoustic performance. The project featured a folding partition on the ground floor of Dock 3. We installed a combined total of 587 Ecophon Rafts and Baffles in Docks 3 and 4, with Solo Rafts in office spaces and Baffles in the corridor areas these really enhanced the overall atheistic of the project.

During the initial stages of the project, we faced challenges related to detailing. This revealed the need for additional details in some Dock areas. Kingston provided unwavering support to the clients’ design team and architects by facilitating meetings with the manufacturers and offering our expertise and experience from previous projects, positively impacting the project’s outcome. Weather conditions also posed a challenge which meant we had to adapt and communicate effectively with the client, as the process took longer than expected. To assist the client in meeting the deadline, all trades put in extra effort to complete the project on time, despite scheduling conflicts. Kingston resolved this challenge by consistently communicating with Wilten Construction to ensure smooth project coordination.

Additionally, Kingston encountered an issue when installing the baffles on the upper floors of Docks 3 and 4, as the roof structure wasn’t suitable for fixing into. To resolve this, we collaborated with the client and incorporated a Unistrut system to hang the ceiling baffles. We also implemented encasement details for the partition heads where required.

Lastly, we are thrilled with the outcome of Pioneer Park. We worked collaboratively with Wilten Construction throughout to deliver a successful project, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
